Annual Jeppe Girls fun run on the cards

KENSINGTON – All proceeds will go towards the pedestrian bridge which will join the two campuses.

Plans are underway for the Jeppe Girls High School to host their annual Jeppe Girls Fun Run/Walk on 12 August around the school’s precinct.

Organisers said they are expecting more than 1 500 participants to grace the occasion, however, more people are invited to participate in the day’s activities.

“There will be entertainment and fun-filled activities on the day to ensure the day becomes a success,” said Sara Schrodo, an event fundraiser.

“The race is open to runners and walkers of all ages and is an event enjoyed by many members of the Kensington community.”

She said there will also be a variety of food stalls for those who have worked up an appetite.

“The race is open to everyone who is interested and we are expecting a fun-filled day with lots of fun for everyone.

“There will be medals for the participants and prizes for the top runners who will be taking part in the event.”

The race starts at 8am at the main school building and moves up Lynx Street, onto Ernest Street, down Mallard Street and along Langermann Drive, up Protea Street, onto Derby Road and then down Nile Street and on to Ernest Road.

From Ernest, the walkers and runners will move onto King Edward Street and will finish the race inside the school sports grounds with a lap around the hockey field.

“After the race, people can join us for the Grade 9 Entrepreneurial Craft Market where a large number of items will be on sale.

“Our Grade 9s will be selling their products to the public as part of raising funds for the construction of a pedestrian bridge which will join our two campuses.”
