MPact and Mrs South Africa pageant partner up for third consecutive year

Mpact Recycling has confirmed that it will sponsor the Mrs South Africa pageant, making this its third consecutive year of involvement in the women empowerment programme.

The partnership’s past success was the motivation behind the sponsorship renewal as well as the company’s commitment to its continued awareness of the importance of recycling and saving the environment.

Through this partnership, the top 25 Mrs South Africa finalists are encouraged to get involved in schools and communities by spreading awareness of the importance of recycling.

The finalists are encouraged to educate people about the environment, while also enabling the schools and communities to raise funds in the process.

The company’s communications manager, Donna Noble said their empowerment and community upliftment initiatives resonated well with the Mrs South Africa organisation’s commitment to affecting positive change in communities. “From past experience, the finalists are sincerely committed to making a difference in the communities in which they live and work. By partnering with Mpact Recycling, we are giving them the opportunity help change the way South Africans think about waste,” said Noble.

Chief Executive Officer of Mrs South Africa, Joani Johnson, added that the partnership with the recycling company went beyond just the picking up of litter but also provided opportunities for community growth. “In addition to public appearances and speaking to schools about the environmental and economic benefits of recycling, the top 25 contestants also create opportunities to meet with community leaders to explain job creation opportunities and the earning potential of recycling,” said Johnson.

“They are helping us to encourage and educate the nation that by reducing, reusing and recycling paper, plastic, cardboard and now liquid cartons too, we are not only saving the environment by diverting refuse away from landfill sites but we are all creating sustainable jobs in the process.”

To date, the company has helped more than 2 000 schools and communities to ensure they are recycling on a regular basis. Ronnie, the company’s friendly celebrity mascot carried out more than 294 school visits last year, reaching more than 169 000 schoolchildren.
