UPDATE: Two found dead after Johannesburg flash floods

LINKSFIELD - Two people drown in flash flood

Search and rescue operations have led to the discovery of two drowning victims.

According to rescue officials the victims were found after flash floods ripped through Johannesburg, flooding areas such as the N3 in Linksfield.

More than 100 cars have been stranded in  a flash flood on the N3 in Linksfield.

According t Max Cohen, spokesperson for Emer-G-Med, more than 10 vehicles were pushed off the highway down an embankment and are totally submerged.

“At this stage it’s believed that one person has died due to drowning, ” Cohen said.

Emer-G-Med paramedics are currently attending to multiple patients with minor injuries.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area as the highway will be closed for some time.
