Bramley CPF happy with progress made

BRAMLEY – CPF urges community members to be more involved in the fight against crime.

Bramley Community Policing Forum (CPF) chairperson, Harvey Phalatse has called for greater community participation in fighting crime in the area.

Phalatse, who was promoted to this position after the departure of Roger Latchman in 2014, said he is happy with the working relationship between the police and the forum. “I think we are going in a particular route that is going to take Bramley CPF to a different level and ensure the safety and security of our community,” he said.

Phalatse praised the new Johannesburg North Cluster commander Major General Nick Sithole for committing himself and his office to help in the fight against crime in the area.

“He has promised us that he will help us in this fight, he is very supportive and is willing to provide leadership,” he said.

Sithole has instructed the Bramley Police Station, together with the CPF, to come up with a practical implementation plan to deal with all the identified hotspots within the Bramley precinct.

Ward 74 councillor Dave Fisher said from the City of Johannesburg side, they are working closely with Metro police in order to have more vehicles patrolling the area.

Phalatse encouraged community members to have the contact numbers of their sector patrol vehicles handy in order to report crime. He added, “Members of the community are also encouraged to raise their issues at the sector forum meetings, which are held monthly. As a forum, we take their issues seriously and ensure that they are attended to by the police station management.”
