Hillbrow police link arrested suspects to murder case

HILLBROW – UPDATE : Hillbrow police link gun suspects to murder case

Two suspects, recently arrested in Hillbrow for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, have also allegedly been linked to a murder case.

The two were arrested in the early hours of the morning on 11 September after Hillbrow police officers on patrol found them with two 9mm pistols and 13 live rounds at the scene of a shooting incident.

Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo, spokesperson for the Hillbrow Police Station, said the two were arrested and detained at the station. “After their arrest, officers investigated the matter and were later able to link them to a murder incident through a preliminary investigation,” he explained.

“At this stage, we’re unable to provide more details as the investigation is still at a sensitive stage but as soon as it is complete, we will be able to release more information.”

The two appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on 14 September to face their initial charge of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. The case continues.
