Residents invited to spin for charity this weekend in Melrose

MELROSE ARCH – Celebs, residents to take part in Sasfin challenge for charity.

The annual Sasfin Cyclethon is set to return with a bang this year and will see celebrities and the public take on the challenge to sweat it out for charity.

The cyclethon will take place on 4 September at the Piazza in Melrose Arch and will see the likes of Maps Maponyane take part in a friendly spinning session to raise funds for the Smile Foundation and HospiceWits.

Speaking of the upcoming event was Cathryn Pearman, head of marketing and communications at Sasfin, who explained that getting involved was a way for the banking group to make a difference. “Sasfin believes in going beyond – whether in business or for the communities in which we operate and we have supported the Smile Foundation and HospiceWits for a number of years and we are thankful for the opportunity to do so once again.

“We call on the greater Johannesburg to also go beyond and come and pedal to change lives; we have seen the amazing benefit that both organisations are able offer to the people they serve as a result of this event and we hope that businesses, friends and families join us in spending the day making a difference.”

Also set to take part in the charitable event is well-known paracyclist and professional spinning instructor, Irish Matcheke, who will help lead the sessions on the day. Each spinning session will be an hour long and members of the public are welcome to do as many sessions as they like.

The event will run from 7am to 1pm and tickets are available online or on the day at the venue at a price of R160 per bike.
