Love Norwood Day raises R25k to maintain park

JOBURG – Love Norwood Day lives up to expectations.

This year’s Love Norwood Day organised by the Norwood Orchards Residents Association and Community Active Protection was a huge success.

Through the generous support of sponsors and the hard work of the fundraising committee, the day raised R25 000 for the continued maintenance of Norwood Park.

The park is a public space at the heart of the Norwood community, and the association employs a gardener to clean and beautify the park twice a week.

Brett McDougall of the association said they were passionate about safe streets, clean, attractive and well-used public spaces and a vibrant high street on Grant Avenue. “Love Norwood Day is a community event that aims to promote local businesses, foster community spirit, and improve the quality of our public spaces. All profits will be used to maintain Norwood Park.”

The residents’ association has been hard at work improving the quality of the suburb’s parks, representing the community regarding the Paterson Park development proposals and creating a better high street through the Grant Avenue Precinct Plan.
