Bramley police warn residents on jewellery thieves

BRAMLEY – Residents urged to help the police catch jewellery suspects

The Bramley police are cautioning community members to remain vigilant in the wake of a recent spate of jewellery thefts within the precinct.

The incidents have taken place across sectors 3 and 4 and have seen approximately four suspects steal jewellery from residents. Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Bramley Police Station, explained the thieves’ modus operandi.

“These suspects are allegedly driving around in a Mercedes Benz and targeting residents making their way to shopping centres and malls, where they manage to steal these people’s wedding rings and watches,” he explained.

Maphakela further explained that the men allegedly used a grey/white Mercedes Benz to commit their crimes and were always spotted looking neat. He warned community members against the four, explaining that they were armed and urged residents to work together with the police to catch them.

“We urge the community to report to the police if they come across a suspicious looking grey/white Benz and four men matching that description,” he urged.

The matter continues.
