At about 9pm, a man who was also participating in the card game brandished a firearm and shot another player.
As the suspect fled the scene, he fired more shots and wounded another man.
Spokesperson for Hillbrow Police Station, Mduduzi Zondo said, “A man was shot dead and another man was injured when the shooting took place. The suspect just shot at the man and ran away.”
According to Zondo, the motive for the shooting is unknown.
The suspect is still at large and Hillbrow police are urging community members to come forward with information which may lead to the suspect’s arrest.
“The victim who was injured was taken to hospital for minor injuries,” concluded Zondo.
