LETTER: Car guards are trying to earn an honest living

I saw an article about the car guards (Car guards pay hefty price, week ending 6 November).

I had written before regarding this and am quite disgusted about the high charge these poor people are charged. I am referring to the guards at the Norwood Hypermarket.

I think they pay R50, but very often they don’t make that in tips and go home with nothing after a whole day working. Also, the parking has meters so I don’t see that they should charge – maybe just a nominal amount of say, R10.

These guards are trying to earn a decent living and often people don’t even given them anything.
