Police find two guns and a stolen car

JOBURG- Johannesburg Metro Police recovered a stolen vehicle on corner London road and N3 North off ramp towards Marlboro on 17 November around 9am.

According to Lieutenant Ramonkung Thobejane of Sandringham Police Station, during a stop and search, Metro police pulled over a light green Toyota Yaris with two occupants.

Thobejane said as the driver stopped the car, he immediately got out and ran away. The passenger was arrested.

“Sandringham police are investigating a case of possession of a motor vehicle which was stolen in the Weerbrurg area in Pretoria earlier this year,” he said.

Officers also found two unlicensed firearms in the vehicle.

The police are still searching for the other suspect. In the meantime, the arrested suspect will face charges of possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle and possession of two unlicensed firearms.

Thobejane appealed to anyone who might have information that can assist the police in their hunt for the other suspect, to come forward and contact Sandringham Police Station.
