ANC urged to oppose hijacked buildings

YEOVILLE - Caucus leader of the DA Gauteng Provincial Legislature and DA Gauteng Health spokesperson, Jack Bloom, recently urged the ANC to set an example when it comes to opposing hijacked homes, this by taking action against its officials who allegedly occupy Yeoville properties illegally.

Bloom said, “According to reports, Vusi Mhlongo, the ANC chairman of Ward 67, which includes Yeoville, is accused by ANC veteran George Lebone, of illegally using his flat to house homeless artists. According to Lebone, he has referred the matter to the relevant authorities and sent a lawyer’s letter to Mhlongo, giving him 30 days to vacate the flat.”

According to Bloom, in another instance of alleged hijacking of a Yeoville property, Patrick Wisani and Simphiwe Naki are alleged by former ANC MP, Sisa Njikelana, to be illegally occupying his house in Yeoville.

“Wisani is chairman of the ANC Youth League Joburg Inner City Branch and Naki is the deputy chairman of the Joe Slovo branch. Wisani allegedly sjambokked his girlfriend to death in this house as well,” added Bloom.

“It is a major embarrassment for the ANC when its Yeoville members accuse each other of dastardly behaviour.”

According to Bloom, the illegal occupation of properties is a major problem in Yeoville, among other inner-city areas. “The ANC must take a firm stand on this issue and ensure that its members respect the law,” added Bloom.
