UPDATE: Acid attacker court case postponed again

JOBURG - The trial of Ines Antonio is set to take place this morning at the Johannesburg Magistrates Court.

UPDATE: 18 August 2015, 2:45pm – The attempted murder charge against Jan Pieterse, who allegedly threw acid at his ex-girlfriend, Ines Antonio, in front of their three-year-old daughter on a street in Sydenham in November last year has been postponed until 4 September in order for a medical expert to address the court.

The case was postponed until the 18 August to give the defense time to study alleged threatening text messages that were sent by Pieterse to Antonio while she was recovering in ICU after the attack.

Pieterse’s defense alleges that Antonio’s new boyfriend threatened him.

Antonio confirmed to that she responded to certain text messages that were sent to her by Pieterse.

INITIAL REPORT: 18 August 2015, 10am – The trial of Ines Antonio is set to take place this morning at the Johannesburg Magistrates Court.

The attempted murder charge against Jan Pieterse, who allegedly threw acid at his ex-girlfriend, Ines Antonio, in front of their three-year-old daughter on a street in Sydenham in November last year, is set to take place today at the Johannesburg Magistrates Court today.

In the article Ex-boyfriend burns woman with acid, North Eastern Tribune, week ending 14 November, Norwood police spokesperson Sergeant Nurse Sanyane said the woman was fighting for her life in an intensive care unit after her ex-boyfriend allegedly poured acid liquid over her, burning her face and body.

The incident took place at the corner of Pembroke Street and 9th Avenue, Sydenham. Sanyane said the woman was walking on the street when her ex-boyfriend charged towards her and poured the acid on her face and body. She said, “The liquid acid started on the face and fell down to her body which left her unconscious.” Sanyane said the boyfriend fled the scene.
