Resident forces City Parks to clean up

WENDYWOOD -Following unsuccessful correspondence with City Parks, a Wendywood resident spread the word on the poor state of Ernest Ullman Park leading to a comprehensive clean-up.

Wendywood resident Rhoda Barkhan had expressed concern with regards to the poor state of the park since January. With the grass at knee height and the bins overflowing with garbage, she described the park as disgusting.

Rhoda added that after numerous e-mails with City Parks representatives, there was no success with the government agency fixing the problems surrounding the park.

She also attempted to contact Ward 109 councillor Lilian Kekana who was unable to comment on the situation.

On 31 March, the Sandton Chronicle then requested a comment from City Parks representative Noeleen Mattera, who stated that the agency has logged the complaint. But as of yet, no official statement had been received from City Parks.

Following the correspondence with the agency, the park has been completely maintained with the grass being cut and the bins on the grounds being cleaned.

As of yet no further comment has been received from City Parks.
