Enraged driver follows mother home

WAVERLEY - A MOTHER and her seven-year old daughter were followed home in their car from Waverley to Senderwood by an unknown man after a driving incident on 31 March.

According to the mother, Wendy Shultz she cut off the driver of a silver Honda and she was aware that she was being followed by the man who seemed to be in his early 40s.

Shultz said, “I knew I had made the driver angry. He hooted and then started pulling ‘zap’ signs at me. I made a gesture in order to apologise however he continued to carry on being rude.”

She added that the man followed her down the road in which she lived, and she decided to call her husband and have him wait for her to arrive at the gate. “When I stopped outside my property the man in the Honda stopped behind me and jumped out of his car,” she said.

Her husband was armed and the man then drove off.

“My seven-year-old daughter believed that my actions and those of my husband were wrong,” said Shultz. “She jumped out of the car and instructed her father to stop and think. She said that I should of driven to a police station.

“I want to issue a warning that accidents happen very quickly and the incident may have turned out to be a tragedy. I should of thought of my daughter in the back seat. I am amazed that someone so young could make such a mature decision.”

Sergeant Nurse Sanyane of Norwood police said, “If anyone suspects that they may be followed, we urge them to drive to the nearest police station.”
