Unfinished business in Sandringham infuriates residents

SANDRINGHAM - THE UPKEEP of piping in and around Sandringham has infuriated residents for a number of years and now, one angry resident has come forward regarding Joburg Water not finishing their maintenance work properly.

James Matthews said, “The stretch of road along Alexandria Street in Sydenham is particularly bad. When Joburg Water does arrive, they dig up all of the sand around the pipes they want to work on, fix it and then leave without finishing the job by putting back all of the sand they dug up.”

Ward 72 councillor Steven kruger said, “The regular complaints that I am receiving at the moment are not of burst pipes, but they are of how Joburg Water is not completing their work properly. I notify Joburg Water of these issues on a continuous basis.”

Matthews added, “This is extremely negligent of Joburg Water. Someone could fall into the hole and seriously injure themselves.”

John Maboa of Joburg Water said, “We are currently working on the problem. Joburg Water is aware of the issues along Alexandria Street in Syhenham.”
