Purim’s fun is undoubtedly for everyone
JOBURG - PURIM is undoubtedly one of everyone’s most favourite holidays and now Chabad Houses invite young and old to join them on the 4 March for a uniquely-themed party in celebrations of the festive holiday.
The festival of Purim is celebrated every year on 14th of the Hebrew month of Adar. This year it will begin after sundown on 4 March and end at nightfall on 5 March. Everyone is welcome to join the merrymaking at Chabad Houses’ affair.
This holiday commemorates the salvation of the Jewish people in Ancient Persia from Haman’s plot. It is observed by public readings of the Megillah, or Scroll of Esther, to recount the story of the Purim miracle, sending food gifts to friends, giving gifts of money to the poor and enjoying a festive Purim meal.
A number of elderly are suffering from health issues, health constraints, loss of a spouse and loneliness. Purim is a natural time to celebrate and put our worries and concerns aside, as well as a time to reflect on previous celebrations.
