Emergency meeting held after 2 hijackings took place within 5 minutes of each other in Lombardy East

LOMBARDY EAST - An emergency meeting was held at the Lombardy East Methodist Church on 21 January after two hijackings took place within five minutes of each other in the the area last year.

The meeting was hosted by the Lombardy East and Rembrandt Park Community Police Forum and was attended by residents in their numbers.

Craig van der Plank, a member of the forum gave the residents some background information on the neighbourhood Block Watch that patrols the area to prevent crime.

The Lombardy East Block Watch has teamed up with the River Park Patrol which monitors London Road, and has a great reputation among the public. The two groups have devised a way of communicating with each other if they notice any suspicious behaviour in their patrolling areas. Also, a Whatsapp group has been created by the Block Watch for the residents of Lombardy East to report any suspicious behaviour.
