Massive damage due to burst pipe

KEW - Residents of 4th Avenue, Kew are concerned about the damage water from a burst pipe is causing to their property and to the road.

Water is flooding the street at an alarming pace and numerous complaints have been logged with Joburg Water, however no-one has been sent out to assess the situation. The problem has been ongoing since the 27th of December last year.

Water has flooded the basement of one of the houses on the road and the occupants are at a loss of what to do or whom they can turn to. The foundations of the property are being eroded by the large amount of water.

Ward councillor Margaret Radebe responded to the North Eastern Tribune and is looking into the problem.

The Joburg Water Communicator assistant Puleng Mopeli has looked into the matter and a team will be sent out tomorrow morning, she has advised the North Eastern Tribune that the reservoir will need to be shut down therefore the area of Kew can expect to have no water from 7 am onwards.
