Man dies in car wash

HILLBROW - A man was killed in Hillbrow by a car cleaner’s brother while he took his car to a car wash.

According to police, the incident took place at the corner of Jagger and Banket streets.

Hillbrow police spokesperson Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo said initially the victim had an argument with the man who was washing his car about the damaged car radio. Zondo said, “The argument escalated into a physical fight.” He said the bystanders managed to separate them and the car cleaner left and then returned with his brother.

Zondo said upon his (car cleaner’s brother) arrival, he took out a screw driver and stabbed the man who was fighting with his brother in his chest.

He said, “The suspect then tried to run away, but the community and the police gave chase and managed to corner him in Banket Street. The suspect was arrested.”

The 30-year-old victim was taken to Hillbrow Clinic, but was certified dead on arrival. The suspect was charged with murder and is expected to appear in Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court soon.
