UPDATE: Man shot in hospital during cash in transit heist

LINKSFIELD - Four armed men in cash-in-transit robbery.

UPDATE: 2:30pm – Norwood police are on the manhunt for two suspects in connection with a cash-in-transit heist on the morning of 18 August at Linksfield Clinic.

According to police, a Protea Coin security guard was at the clinic to collect money and on his way out he was approached by two armed men who were carrying firearms.

Norwood police spokesperson Constable Nonzwakazi Tsoanyane said one suspect approached from the reception area and the other from upstairs. Tsoanyane said, “The suspects robbed him [the security guard] of an undisclosed amount of cash that he came to collect at the hospital. The security guard was shot in his leg.”

She said the suspects fled the scene on foot and a firearm was discovered a few metres away from the entrance of the clinic. Tsoanyane said according to an eye witness, the suspects drove away in a white Ford Bantum.

Initial report: 18 August 2014, 10:20am – A man was shot in what is suspected to be a cash-in-transit robbery at the Linksfield Clinic.

The North Eastern Tribune has received unconfirmed reports that the victim who was carrying money bags was shot in a stairway, and that the bags in his possession were all taken by the robbers.

He is reported to have been shot in the leg.

The four suspects were allegedly wearing overalls, one in a blue, another in black and the third in a brown one.

Police have arrived on the scene.
