Police nab woman after months of running

Yeoville police have arrested a 42-year-old woman for various crimes.

Spokesperson Constable Thabo Malatji said the woman was on the police list for wanted suspects for crimes committed in various locations.

He said, “During a stop and search operation conducted at the corner of Bezuidenhout and Natal streets, police stopped the car in which the woman was travelling. There were three occupants including the suspect.”

Malatjis said the woman tested positive to a Morpho Touch, a mobile device used by police to check whether people are wanted for certain crimes.

The incident took place on 20 June.

Malatji said, “…She tested positive on the system and is wanted for 18 criminal offences ranging from shoplifting and theft in different policing areas. She has also committed offences in areas such as Fairland, Vanderbijlpark, Littleton, and Pretoria.”

He said warrants of arrests had been issued on all the offences.

The suspect used different names when committing all the offences.
