Victim Support Unit has new home

Norwood Police Station has allocated new premises to the Victim Support Unit.

Members of the Norwood Community Policing Forum (CPF) met with the station’s Constable Nonzwakazi Tsoanyane, the victim support team leader, and two of her team members who are volunteers, Thobeka Ziswana and Khomotso Mahladisa, in their new work space last week.

The space is cosy enough to allow the team to better advise and counsel victims of abuse.

Members of the CPF said Tsoanyane had identified the growing need for advice and community support, especially the need for regular supplies of groceries and toiletries for abused people in the Norwood community and surrounds.

The unit is in need of blankets for senior citizens living in Orange Grove to help keep them warm this winter.

Members of the community willing to offer their time to assist the Victim Support Unit or a regular supply of any consumables, have been invited to contact Tsoanyane.

Details: Constable Nonzwakazi Tsoanyane 083 4701479; 072 3112985.
