KES Easter Rugby Festival most supported schoolboy event in South Africa

A rugby feast.

This year, the 12th instalment of the KES Easter Rugby Festival didn’t disappoint either as it saw schools from around the country gather to play in some much anticipated matches.

One of the best thing about the KES festival is that neighbouring school St Johns also runs its rugby festival concurrently – spectators could attend both festivals and pick and choose which games they wanted to watch.

The distance between the school is a short 400m walk.

The festivals saw the streets of Houghton fill up with not only high school pupils and parents, but also many Old Boys. The 21 April marked the end of both festivals and although all three days witnessed great rugby, the last day’s games were probably the most anticipated, with KES and St John’s looking for a win after their disappointing losses on day two of the event.

After a gruelling loss in their main match against Scots College of Sydney on day two of the festival, St Johns enjoyed their first win of the weekend against St Charles College.

Over on the KES rugby field, the KES boys came out victorious with a win over Durban’s Northwood School.
