Drug dealer and a car thief arrested in Yeoville

Serious criminal activities continue to rage Yeoville community and in separate incidents, a drug dealer and car thief were arrested by Yeoville police.

According to police, in the first incident, a man was arrested for allegedly being in possession of drugs. Yeoville police spokesperson Constable Thabo Malatji said the police received information about a prevailing drug dealing at the corner of Hunter Street and Fortesque Roads. Malatji said “Police proceeded to the address and searched the premises. While they were searching, they [police] found drugs hidden in the premises.”

He said the suspect was arrested and detained at Yeoville police Station.

In another incident, a man was arrested for allegedly being in possession of a stolen motor vehicle in Yeoville. According to Malatji, the suspect wanted to sell the vehicle to an unsuspecting member of the community. He said “The would be buyer then asked to check that the vehicle really belonged to the suspect. He then went to Yeoville police to check ownership status and it was revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen in Pretoria west in 2011.”

The police went with the would be buyer to the suspect and he was arrested and the vehicle was confiscated. Both suspects were expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on charges of being in possession drugs and of stolen motor vehicle respectively.
