The new CPF chairperson vows to bring cooperation

The new Bramley Community Police Forum chairperson vowed to bring close-knit relationship between the community and the police station.

The new Chairperson of the Bramley Community Policing Forum (CPF) vowed to cultivate close-knit relationship between the community and the police station.

Harvey Palatse, was promoted to this position after the departure of Roger Latchman, in recent elections. Palatse said his mission was to take the baton and continue with the race. “Some people don’t know that the CPF is a legislated body which provides oversight of the police. It’s our responsibility to monitor the effectiveness of the policing in our areas,” said Palatse. He explained that part of policing the community includes meeting every month with the station commander and his management team to report on the activities of the previous month where they give details about breakthroughs and crime patterns. The chairperson urged the community to get involved in their sector forum meetings which are held monthly and said it is where the community could use the platform to engage the police around security matters.

Palatse reckoned that police listen to the community’s safety and security concerns. “We look after the interests of community and want to endorse the relationship with the station commander and his management team. Already we have a number of key programmes which we have jointly identified as part of fighting crime and have strategic plans in place. We will be making an announcement soon,” he concluded.
