Yeshiva shines in New York

A group of matriculants of Yeshiva College participated in the Yunmun programme.

The programme sends pupils of different Jewish schools from different countries to New York to take part in a mock United Nations at Yeshiva University.

The pupils are presented with real issues that affect the UN, and they have to research and come up with solutions for the problems.

The Yeshiva College pupils initially felt a sense of intimidation by the American students, many of whom had participated before, but they became more confident and managed to express their views and arguments with sophistication.

While in New York, the pupils explored the city and visited the UN building and experienced snow in Central Park. They also went shopping, saw a Broadway show and went to a NBA basketball game.

The school’s marketing manager Cheryl Harton-Hotinsky said the trip was a bonding experience and enjoyed by all. “Yeshiva College is proud of its pupils who took part in this wonderful programme as they truly upheld the values and morals of Yeshiva College,” she added.
