According to police, the resident of Soccer Street in Alexandra’s Extension 7 said he and his girlfriend were at home at around 8pm when he got a call from his former girlfriend. His live-in girlfriend then asked him who he was speaking to over the phone, and when he replied that he was speaking to his former girlfriend, she picked up a brick and hit him on the head.
Alex police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said the boyfriend allegedly tried to explain that the former girlfriend was calling in connection with their child, but he claimed his current partner wouldn’t hear any of that and continued to assault him. He then went to the Alex Clinic where he was treated and discharged.
The girlfriend has since been arrested and will appear soon at the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court; she has been charged with common assault.
