Suspects rob family at gunpoint

Three suspects are sought by Norwood police after robbing an Abbotsford family outside their home at gunpoint and taking several valuable items.

Police spokesperson Constable Nonzwakazi Tsoanyane said the family had returned home, and while waiting for the gate to open outside their home, three male suspects approached the vehicle.

“The suspects pointed firearms at the family – a man, his wife and daughter-in-law. One of the suspects approached the driver’s side where the man was seated, and at gunpoint took his watch, wallet, cash and car keys,” said Tsoanyane.

According to police the suspects also took the victime’s wife’s handbag, wallet, cash, ring and a cellphone.

Tsoanyane said, “Still at gunpoint, they proceeded to take the daughter-in-laws’ handbag, iPad, digital camera, passport and ring.”

She said the total value of the stolen items was over R285 000 and an investigation was underway.
