Help Caitlin study in New York

JOBURG - Highlands North resident Caitlin Clerk is on a mission to raise about R70 000 to study at the New York Film Academy.

The singer, dancer and actress is a psychology and English graduate at Wits University. She was advised by her godmother to gather funds through a crowd-funding campaign and did so through a Startme website.

Clerk wants to study musical theatre at the academy and says she cannot miss the opportunity. “My tickets are booked and the school and my accommodation are just waiting for me to complete the crowd-funding, which is very nice,” she said.

Clerk who has performed in Phantom of the Opera and Annie said studying at the academy would be a dream come true, “It hasn’t quite sunk in and I’m still overwhelmed by the idea,” she said.

She has raised R50 000 so far and has two weeks to raise the remainder of the required amount. The 24-year-old will be performing in a show called Tarts in Sandton this December.
