Police launch a manhunt for house robbers

NORWOOD - Police were on the manhunt for two suspects in connection with house robbery in Highlands North.

According to police, the homeowner was busy with chores when two intruders appeared from his kitchen.

Police spokesperson, Constable Nonzwakazi Tsoanyane said one of the suspects hit the owner on the forehead with a rusty steal object.

“The suspect also held him by his hand before taking a kitchen knife and stabbed him on his nose,” said Tsoanyane.

“He also pushed him down before another man came and tied his hands from the back with cable ties.”

The robbers demanded cash and Tsoanyane said the victim told the robbers that his money was in his pocket.

“They took R2 000 and a cellphone from the victim.”

The other suspect tied up the victim’s mother and three other residents of the house.

They were ordered to lie on the floor and covered with a blanket.

The robbers then ransacked the house and stole R1 000, cellphones, jewellery and other valuables.

The value of the stolen items was estimated at R16 000.

Police appealed to the public for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
