Police arrest 29 drug suspects

Hillbrow police on routine patrol arrested 29 suspects in possession of drugs.

According to police they targeted all the drug hot spots in the area and conducted stop and search operations around those areas.

Police spokesperson Constable Mduduzi Zondo said the operation was successful as they managed to confiscate drugs worth about R10 000.

“Among the suspects one was in possession of 35 small parcels wrapped in brown and silver plastic bags. We believe that they we are cracking through in the fight against drugs in our area.”

He said the suspects were coming from different areas such as Pretoria, Vereeniging, Mpumalanga and many others. Zondo said the operation should be a lesson to drug dealers that the police are After their tails.

“The people who roaming around the streets with drugs must take this as a warning that police are out there and will catch them soon.”

He added that police were not clear on whether the suspects were drug dealers or users.

“It’s not clear at the moment who is a drug dealer or user but with the quantity that had been found in others indicated that they might be drug dealers.”
