Positive reflections from a negative incident

LYNDHURST - I would like to thank the Glenhazel Active Patrol (Gap) security for all their help when I was recently hijacked in Lyndhurst.

I was hijacked, assaulted and robbed in early August this year. Even though I am not a member of the Gap security company, when I stopped one of their vehicles for help soon after the incident, they chased after the hijackers.

Within minutes there were at least five security vehicles in the vicinity. A driver of one of the vehicles stayed with me the entire time. They phoned the police, ambulance and my tracker service and remained with me until I was taken by the ambulance to hospital. A member of Gap came to my residence the day after my incident for a report. He was sympathetic, supportive and informative. It is reassuring to know there is such a professional, dedicated security service available, at a time when there is not much input from government.

It is refreshing to know there is a dedicated security service available. I would also like to thank and commend all of the Sandringham police station staff, who have been most helpful, supportive and dedicated in the weeks after my incident. They obviously don’t get the full financial support needed from government, but are still most professional, effective, helpful and dedicated.
