Burglars hit Illovo and Kew

BRAMLEY - Police are on the manhunt for suspects in connection with series of burglary at business premises in Illovo and Kew.

In the first incident, a business owner was sleeping at home when he received a phone call from the director of his company informing him that his business in Oxford Road, Illovo, had been broken into.

According to police reports, the victim rushed to the scene where he found security guards from two companies standing outside the entrance. Bramley police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Mapahakela said, “He found a smashed door on the floor, he checked all the cabinets and found one cabinet smashed.” According to the owner, the smashed cabinet had two mini iPads, a Mac Book, an iPad and three Apple TVs – all of which were stolen.

In another incident at Central Avenue, the victim, who was sleeping in a backroom, woke up and discovered that someone had broken into her business premises. She found a stepladder,

which was against the wall. Maphakela said the woman also found that a glass window upstairs was broken. “She went inside and found out that a laptop, assortment of cameras, shoes and tekkies were missing,” said Maphakela.

In 10th Road, Kew, a filling station site manager told the police that when he left his workplace offices everything was in order. Maphakela stated that the manager went home, and the

following morning he received a call from a security guard informing him about an open window at the premises. The man went to the premises to investigate and he found the window wide open, the ceiling was removed, and a computer worth R3000 had been stolen. Maphakela added that the CCTV cameras were disconnected due to renovations and the suspect gained entrance through the ceiling. Maphakela appealed to the community to help the police with information that could lead to the arrest of any of these suspects.
