Manu Worldstar has a golden African story

JOBURG – Manu Worldstar’s music propels young African stories to greater heights.

Following the release of his acclaimed hit single, Nalingi, Manu Worldstar has gradually become a household name and permanent fixture on SA’s music scene.

To solidify his status as a force to be reckoned with, the muso, whose real name is Emmanuel Mutendji, continues to exhibit his musical gifts not only through polished song writing and delivery but also electrifying performances at various music festivals around the country – leaving the audience in absolute awe.

Mutendji started making music as a singer and wrote and recorded his first song at 15 years old before falling in love with hip-hop music and taking the reins as a rapper before moving back into a full-fledged singer geared towards pop stardom via his chart topping single, Nalingi.

He said Nalingi was somewhat a mistake because he had intended to record a hard rap song when he was in the studio with production duo, Noble Productions who played him the beat which fortunately turned into the hit record.

“At that moment when I came up with the hook, I knew that it was the time to make that jump.”

Mutendji received a certified gold plaque from the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) for his hit single and has since released his solo Extended Play (EP), Young African Story.

The EP doesn’t only see the artist keep his sound on heavy rotation but also tell a unique African story – as seen and lived by the artist.

“I’m an artist. My job will be to always find moments and create great music from them. Yes, Nalingi did amazing, but it doesn’t stop there. I have a new EP that’s out and I am looking to get music lovers to vibe on that and I also have more that I am looking at working on.”

For Mutendji, music is a medium that will get people to not only resonate with the positive vibes that he tries to put out but also real life experiences – from good to bad and everything in between.

“My life is the inspiration behind my music. The struggles I’ve been through, my relationship with my family, my love life. All these things fuel the inspiration to my music,” he said.

Being a part of Punchline Media alongside D.EE XCLSV, Luna Florentino, and Tony X, keeps Mutendji on his toes and hungry for more success as the team continues to find new and ways to make their music stand out.

“Man, Punchline is my family. We’re just a bunch of young creatives trying to push one mission because we all have one vision. I would say have a team that is as hard working and dedicated as you are. No one man has ever had all the power.”
