The other Goliath set to make waves

JOBURG – After being in the comedy industry for over eight years, Nicholas Goliath feels that it’s now time to introduce himself as one man comic to his fans.

We’re all familiar with the Goliath brothers and sometimes it’s rather confusing identifying which one is which – not because they look the same but because they’re always together. This time around one of the brothers is going solo with his first-ever one-man show, The Other Goliath. Nicholas Goliath debuts his one-man show on his 35th birthday this September.

After being in the comedy industry for over eight years, Nicholas feels that it’s now time to introduce himself as one man comic to his fans,

“I’m nervous especially because it will be my first time doing an hour on stage alone, I feel like the expectations are high and I wouldn’t want to disappoint anyone,” he said.

He mentioned it is important to have a one-man show as a comedian because it allows him to push himself.

“When you’re doing an hour that’s the true test of how funny you actually are. To keep people’s attention and to keep them laughing for a whole hour is a stress.”

The thought process behind The Other Goliath is being able to find the humour in every situation.

“It’s an introduction to who I am, the story about me and what I find funny.”

Having been a call-centre agent for a while, Nicholas never thought he would be on stage telling jokes, so being the ‘other’ Goliath is just a blessing.

“I love it, I was a call-centre agent for nine years so I never even expected to be the other anyone, I just expected to be the other call-centre agent. Being the other Goliath, every day I win because I’m always in a place I never expected to be in.”

Besides being the other one, Nicholas is a loving husband, father and overall family guy, he also mentions that he is the funniest out of the three brothers.

“I think I’m the funniest! No man, you know we each have our own thing. Everybody’s got their favourite Goliath but if you had to ask me straight up, I’m the funniest.”

In the near future he will be starting his own improvisation (improv) agency.

“Starting an improv is a distant cousin of comedy and I’m excited about it,  that will be kicking off in the next two months,” he said.

When asked if he had to choose between MacGyver or Chuck Norris, it was MacGyver all the way. Laughing he said it’s because ‘Chuck Norris can’t use a screwdriver and spark plug to make a bomb.’
