GALLERY: SA photographer in charge of Rihanna’s Fenty exclusive first look

JOBURG – Kristen-Lee Moolman brings Rihanna’s fashion line to life in Fenty first-look shoot.

SA continues to export top-tier creative individuals who represent the country well and showcase the amount of talent on offer. Kristen-Lee Moolman is the latest addition to exported talents following her shoot of the first looks of Rihanna’s Fenty clothing line.

The shoot was part of The New York Times Style Magazine spring 2019 issue and saw Riri give the publication an exclusive first look as she took the reigns as the first black woman in charge of a major luxury fashion house in Paris. Her looks were styled by Suzanne Koller

This was not Moolman’s first international gig as the photographer and filmmaker has had her work shown across Africa, Asia and the United States. Her work has been featured in popular publications which include GQ, Vogue Australia, Dazed & Confused, Vice and Grazia UK.

With photographic work that seeks to capture the idea of a new Africa, Moolman explores the fluid social and political landscape of Africa through portraits noticeable by opposing realities in an attempt to promote new identities that provide counter-narratives to current stereotyped, idealized imagery.

She has also shot campaigns for Burberry, HBA, and Nike among other brands and has participated in exhibitions and collaborations which include Being There: South Africa, A Contemporary Art Scene at Fondation Louis Vuitton, and 2026 as a part of Utopian Voices at Somerset House in London.
