Busiswa joins forces with Ntando Duma for the 2019 sequel of Gqom Nation

JOBURG – Gqom Nation returns with fresh beats and cutting-edge dance moves in exciting new season.

MTV Base dives into the New Year with its continued commitment of bringing audiences local content productions that resonate strongly with viewers by announcing the sequel of the bass-filled show Gqom Nation. The sequel features Banomoya crooner Busiswa as the co-host of the epic music and dance show, working alongside Ntando Duma – who has been with the series since it launched in 2017.

Gqom Nation is one of the first shows that is specifically broadcasting Gqom culture to the audiences since its growth, and this genre is certainly taking over the world. I am ecstatic to be a part of this evolution,” said Busiswa.

Monde Twala, vice president for youth, music and BET at Viacom International Media Networks Africa (VIMN Africa) said the channel was the cultural home of the millennial generation, music fans and artists.

“We are thrilled to have symbolic gqom musician Busiswa as co-host alongside Ntando Duma, along with incredible DJs who wave the gqom flag high globally and dancers whose innovative moves will keep our audiences glued to their screens every Friday night for 11 weeks. The new season is set to thrill and keep our viewers on their feet,” Twala said.

Each week the hosts, Busiswa and Ntando Duma will be joined by some of the entertainment industry’s big named DJs on the decks such as Tira, Vumar, Maphorisa, C’ndo, Dbn Nyts, Distruction Boyz, LeSoul, Cruel Boyz, Happy Gal and Funky Qla.  They will merge with one dance crew who will perform their best moves on the dance floor while some of South Africa’s entertainers who are adored in the gqom culture such as Moonchild Sanelly, Dladla Mshunqisi, Tipcee, Madanon, Goldmax, Rhea Blak, Bhizer, Artchild, Biggie, Paras and Zodwa Wabantu will also make a guest appearance.

Gqom Nation powerfully extends beyond music and dance to celebrate African excellence. When you see the skill and passion of the dancers and hear the experimental sounds the producers are creating, African pride is evoked. In Season one, we presented gqom in its raw and gritty essence. With Season two, gqom’s world-class genre of creative expression and art permeates every aspect immersing audiences into the unique rhythms, culture, and soul that is born from our inspiring country,” said Gqom Nation director Batandwa Alperstein.
