Joburg’s local creative culture comes out to play at Sunday Edition

JOBURG – Sunday Edition presents a gathering point for vibrant and expressive Joburg creative culture.

Sundays in Braamfontein are usually quiet and breezy, a perfect set-up for Joburg to experience the unexpected with Altos Tequila at Sunday Edition.

Hosted at the Neighbourgoods Market on Sunday, 11 November, Sunday Edition is a monthly one-day festival that offers an immersive, multifaceted celebration of local music, independent art and street fashion – a fundamental expression of collective African-urban identity.

Andile ‘Scotchisdope’ Cele, founder and creative director of Designer Original Product Enterprise, a design lifestyle company that had its products on show said the event was one of the few events that he didn’t mind showcasing his brands at.

“It’s a nice thing to do on a Sunday. It’s very relaxed and very chilled also working and doing some business, but also having fun at the same time,” said Cele

Sunday Edition was conceived as a monthly party and social outing that presents a gathering point for a vibrant and expressive local creative culture and has grown over an eight-event season to create a culture of its own.

Activities of the day included showcases, stalls and musical sets by the most vibrant and expressive local creatives such as Temple of Reason, Khanya, the Designer, DJ Bob, Housecatz and Luma Music who graced the world-class stage given to the country’s new wave of pioneering acts.

Staying true to bringing an unexpected experience to Joburg, Altos Tequila brought an experience that brings the passion, culture and shared values of Mexico to life as the extensive main bar featured a curated beer and cocktail menu, with happy hour, bucket specials and custom cocktails to keep the vibe alive. Neighbourgoods vibe was kept alive by a selection of the most exciting food trucks and street food stalls as they served up to the hungry crowds.
