30 June: Basha Uhuru Freedom Festival

Now in its sixth year, Basha Uhuru Freedom Fest presents an exciting mix of DJs, bands and solo acts. The festival showcases the best in contemporary art, design, film and music – a celebration of young South African creatives. Taking place from 28 to 30 June at Constitution Hill, the three-day festival also commemorates the youth of 1976 through thrilling arts and culture and provides inspirational workshops and entrepreneurial support programmes for young creatives.

30 June: The Underground Booksellers Tour

The Griffin Shea-led guided walk takes Joburgers on the inner City’s literary history, tracing Joburg’s informal book trade. The walk is set to start with coffee at Bridge Books, an independent bookshop in one of the City’s finest heritage buildings, before making its way through Joburg’s historic financial district.

30 June: Sneakers 4 Change Exhibition

Taking place at the Victoria Yards, Sneakers 4 Change exhibition aims to raise awareness about the need for footwear while promoting the spirit of giving and sneaker culture. The event will also serve as an activation for the #NoColdFeet winter campaign – A donation of sneakers, stationery, clothing, skating and sports gear gets you in for free.

1 July: Open Studio Vibes at Victoria Yards

Part of Victoria Yards’ First Sunday series, ‘Open Studios’ is an opportunity to discover a space in progress as the venue works towards their official spring opening. It is also an opportunity to visit the artists’ and artisans’ workspaces and studios to see how art works and the beauty behind their process.

1 July: Miller Presents: Koolin in the City ‘DJ Edition’

On the 1st July #KoolinInTheCity will be moving to club Elevate found on the rooftop of the Reef Hotel and for this special edition they have assembled a line-up of only DJs. So put your dancing shoes on and get ready for the sounds of DJ Switch, DJ C-Live, Bubbles, 2 pm, DJ Bryan Travis & Akio and P-Kuttah.
