HILLBROW – A five-victim murder rocks Hillbrow community

The shocking scene of a five-victim murder unravelled this morning at Madison Square, a residential building on the corner of Claim and Kapteijn streets in Hillbrow.
It is alleged that the family of five was gunned down, execution-style, at approximately 8pm on Monday, by a known male suspect.

The scene in the bathroom next to the bedroom where the alleged shooting incident occurred.

Details are sketchy at this stage, however, following multiple interviews by City Buzz, the following was established:

  • The five victims – two adult females, as well as a 21-year-old and her 15-month-old child, and a sibling, aged eight – were allegedly shot and killed by the known suspect.
  • A two-year-old baby girl, said to be the child of one of the victims, and another woman who was visiting at the time of the incident, were discovered at the scene unharmed.
  • The suspect, who is said to have been romantically involved with one of the victims, is still at large.
  • One of the first witnesses to arrive at the scene – who requested that his name not be published –alleged that according to one of the victim’s cellphone records, the last incoming call was from the suspect.
  • The victims, who had been living in the building since 2011, were described by neighbours as peaceful.
  • The motive is unclear.
  • The killings are said to be the work of a lone suspect.
  • Children who were playing on the stairs of the 12-storey building alleged that they saw the suspect with a gun in his hand, making his way down the stairs and exiting the building.
  • The witness – who discovered the bodies – alleges that he came face-to-face with the suspect prior to making the gruesome discovery.
