Naming James and Rada put out new music

Rada, the organisation which aims to assist people affected by rape, drugs, alcohol and abuse, recently launched a music division, Rada Unearthed, and it is booming.

At the core of the organisation’s healing process is the principle that people are entirely responsible for and accountable to themselves. The philosophy behind this thinking is to eliminate social safety nets and, instead, give people the tools they need to grow themselves.

When singer, Naming James was approached by the founder, JP Nobrega, to feature on the Rada Unearthed compilation album, he knew he couldn’t pass up the opportunity. A little sceptical at first, considering the scope of the project, the singer knew that if anyone could pull it off, it would be Nobrega.

They say the proof is in the pudding. While the album speaks for itself, it’s the impact the album will have on people’s hearts that will be the true decider.

Each song on the album shares a special message, intended to get people thinking and living with purpose. In essence, it’s an inspirational record filled with good tunes by talented artists, but for many it’s more than that.

Rada Unearthed’s purpose is twofold. Firstly, it seeks to raise awareness for Rada itself, a non-profit organisation that provides a place of renewal for people affected by rape, alcohol, drugs and abuse. Secondly, it serves the arts community by providing a platform for musicians to showcase their talent.

When asked about the meaning behind the song, Naming James explained, “It was one of the first times that someone had asked for a song that had to be in a specific kind of vein. There are so many things in our lives these days that we need to let go of.

“We need to allow ourselves to be free and that’s not just free with no responsibility or anything, it’s to be free to be yourself. You don’t always need to let all your troubles and strife bring you down. You do have a choice and there are ways that you can help yourself,” said James.
