Trending on Twitter in Johannesburg today – and for the past week – is #FeesMustFall.
What is everyone on about, you ask?
The University of Witswatersrand in Joburg has been the talk of the town, since students began to protest against the fee increase for the 2016 academic year.
The unofficial protest reached its peak on 14 October when the university was shut down as protesting students prevented teachers and learners from entering or exiting the premises.
Members of the Twitterverse have spoken out about the high fee increases at Wits.
Since the Wits ‘revolution’ surfaced on Twitter, other universities around the country have joined in the movement in protest against, what the students describe as, high tuition fees.
