Google redesigns its logo

JOHANNESBURG –Google introduced a new logo on 2 September – the biggest redesign for the internet search platform since 1999.

The new logo is a simple, sans-serif script with four watered down colours of blue, red, yellow and green. The redesign comes at a turning point in the company’s history, as just a month ago a major restructuring of the company made way for Alphabet.

As reported by The Guardian, Alphabet is a holding company that was created by founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page. The company is meant to separate the search engine company Google from the loss-making “moon shoot” projects like robot cars, medical research and internet delivering balloons. Alphabets largest wholly owned subsidiary will be Google.

Google stated in a blogpost that the new design would soon be seen across all of its products. “Google has changed a lot over the past 17 years – from the range of our products to the evolution of their look and feel. And today we’re changing things up once again,” the company said.

The company also said the redesign was meant to reflect the way that people interact with Google products across many different platforms, apps and devices.
