They’re waiting At The Gates
JOBURG - International rock band, At The Gates, is set to perform for the first time on South African soil at the end of May.
At The Gates is the Swedish melodic death metal band that has pioneered the sound of their small, yet growing genre since their start in the music industry in 1990.
With the help of Witchdoctor Productions, At The Gates will come to Johannesburg to perform for their South African fans fat the trendy Carfax venue in Newtown.
The band will only be in South Africa for a two-date tour, with the first being at The Mercury in Cape Town on 29 May and the second at Carfax in Newtown on 30 May.
This tour comes as a result of the tumultuous past of the band. At The Gates was active from 1990 to 1996, when they broke up. The band then reformed in 2007 for one reunion show before again breaking up in 2008. But since reuniting in 2010 they have continued to deliver music to death metal fans the world over.
Late last year they released their first album in 19 years titled At War With Reality.
The band will perform songs from their latest offering and may even throw in some songs from their first albums – for the true die-hards.
