1Fox helps new talent Ignite The Mic

JOHANNESBURG – 1Fox's Good Luck Bar Shed launches their Thursday night March madness to give new talent a platform to Ignite the Mic.

1Fox, in the western edge of Joburg inner-city, is a complex of historic mining sheds converted into a gourmet food market, coupled with event space, bars and upcoming retail spaces and epitomises the concept of urban regeneration.

Now, they are not only offering you great food and drinks, but also great talent.

Ignite the Mic is a platform that allows young poets, rappers, comedians and all other performers the chance to showcase their special talents without running the risk of organising the shows for themselves. Hosted by 1Fox’s music curator, Michael Canfield, the headliner line-up will feature legendary performers including The Black Cat Bones, Laurie Levine, Josie Field, Taylor and many others to be announced over the coming weeks. “There aren’t enough stages in South Africa where undiscovered artists can perform and interact with established artists,” said Canfield.

“There are so many of those kinds of platforms in other countries and we want to create that space for talent to be shown here.”

“What we want to do is, of course, attract people to 1Fox and to do it in a unique way, but mainly to find and develop the next generation of talent in the country.”

The music starts at 7pm with the headlining performers and will continue with the undiscovered talent until about 10pm every Thursday night.

This show is offering a great opportunity by giving the undiscovered performers a 15-minute slot to perform their pieces.

Entrance will always be free and everyone is welcome to come and perform their original material or unique interpretations of others songs.

Sign-up begins at 5pm and the performances will begin at 7pm.
