As discussed, here are the details of the above mentioned situation.
A person has claimed to have stage 4 cancer and has had numerous fund raising events to help raise money for her “surgery”. She claims to have undergone this surgery at Vincent Pallotti hospital on the 16th of October 2014. According to her mother, who is also suspected to be involved in the fraudulent scheme, she had minimally invasive cardiac surgery for the removal of a tumor from her heart. This was claimed to be done by Dr Ewelyn Lloyd. He has also been contacted and has no record of ever treating such a patient. What rose our suspicions more, is that Dr Lloyd is a cardiologist, not a cardio-thoracic surgeon, and thus he does not perform surgery of this kind.
They further claim that the patient was admitted to ICU after the surgery, and discharged a day later to a “special guest house” where her doctor stayed on with her to continue her care. Nobody was, however, at any stage allowed to visit her during her stay at the hospital or guest house. Many people attempted to visit and send flowers, but neither the hospital admission or ICU had any record of this patient ever being there.
The mother also claimed that people should refrain from visiting, as she is being treated as an “out-patient” and that the hospital and doctor involved could suffer damages if anybody knew that she was being treated there. According to the patient, the surgery was performed as a favour, and the hospital charged her an admission fee of R6000 while the Anaesthetist charged a mere R1000.
Many people in the boxing community and mixed martial arts community have been affected by this scheme. Hundreds of thousands of rands have been raised over the course of a year to financially aid this person with all the apparent medical costs. They are all ready to institute a class fraud action against all involved. Your help in stating that this person was never admitted or treated at your facility will aid the case greatly.
