This guy sounds like a winner

HE’S A trained sound engineer, extremely humble, an urbanite, involved with charitable causes, and in between is strutting his stuff as a South African Bachelor of the Year finalist.

Meet Guy Saben, Linden’s guy representing the City of Gold in the South Africa Bachelor and Bachelorette competition – and he’s quite a catch.

“This competition means so much to me for two reasons. Firstly, it has been my lifelong dream to do something of good in my society. I care for people so much and I have a huge passion for raising cancer awareness. Secondly, this competition represents something that is so incredible as it provides people with a voice. This is something important, especially living in Johannesburg where life is so rushed and work orientated, people do not have the time or patience to listen to an arbitrary person off the street. Hence, I am so grateful to have a voice and be given the opportunity to make a difference in my community,” Saben explained.

As a finalist, Saben is currently raising major moola for the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) – the chosen benefactor of the competition.

“As a finalist in this competition, our end goal is to provide and spread awareness about the disease. I aspire to building myself up as a brand to raise funds for Cansa by showing people that fund raising is actually fun,” Saben said.

He also hopes his background in the radio industry will help the causes his supporting in the future.

“I have met and worked with so many incredible people in the industry and I would use this to my advantage by getting the word out there as much as possible,” Saben said.

In between, Saben is a great lover of music, and a collector of Durnan Duran memorabilia.

“I am still one of those guys who goes out and buys a CD as there is nothing nicer than having a physical copy of your new favourite artist. My favourite era is the ’80’s, and when I was a teenager I was a Duran Duran collector, they have always been my favourite band,” he chirped.

But for now, Saben has his sights set on completing the competition. And who knows, at the end of November he might just be the country’s most eligible bachelor.
