Music legend Albert Hammond heading to SA

JOBURG - Singer-songwriter Albert Hammond has written and recorded hit songs for more than 50 years, and this year, local audiences will get a taste of his musical magic.

The Gibraltar-based hit-maker will tour South Africa in October, with shows billed for Joburg, Cape Town, and the Clover Aardklop National Arts Festival.

Hammond found success at age 24 with the song It Never Rains in Southern California, and went on to build an extraordinary career as an artist, songwriter and producer in English-speaking and Latin markets.

In addition to his own classic singles such as Down By the River, I’m a Train, and The Free Electric Band, Hammond co-wrote hit songs The Air That I Breathe, Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now, Don’t Turn Around, and To All the Girls I’ve Loved Before.

Hammond will perform on 12 October at Carnival City’s Big Top Arena at 6pm.

He will perform on 9 October at the Clover Aardklop National Arts Festival, Potchefstroom, at 7pm, and on 11 October at Cape Town’s Grand West Arena.
