Pieter Dirk-‘Eish’ reflects on democracy

Pieter Dirk-Uys, also known as the beloved Evita Bezuidenhout, will be charming audiences once again at his two-day show this March.

This time around Dirk-Uys will not unleash Tannie Evita but will stage a humorous show based on his life and experiences as a comedian in South Africa. The satirist and comedian’s performance will take place at the Lyric Theatre from 28 to 29 March.

A common feature on the comedic landscape, Dirk-Uys’ show, aptly titled An Audience with Pieter Dirk-Eish, will focus on his experiences growing up in the country and his reflection on the past 20 years.

He will present different characters throughout the two shows, inspired by his scriptwriters – the government of the day.

Various boxes will appear on stage, each containing a different character that a member of the audience will select. Dirk-Uys will then assume the role of that character. His show aims to be a celebration of free speech and living in a relatively healthy, young democracy.

Tickets are available at computicket for R120.
